About the role#
The BlackBerry Security Incident Response Team (BBSIRT) protects the software integrity of our products and services. We are looking for a student to help us respond to software-based cyber threats. You will work with teams across the organization to identify, analyze, and mitigate vulnerabilities.
What you'll do#
- Build systems and workflows to scale our security efforts.
- Use agentic tools to find, assess, and suggest fixes for software vulnerabilities.
- Triage vulnerabilities and evaluate risk using metrics like CVSS.
- Prioritize and coordinate response activities to ensure timely remediation.
- Deepen your security knowledge to help maintain customer protection.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Python programming and debugging.
- Ability to analyze code behavior.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple parallel tasks.
- Experience with agentic coding assistants.
- Collaborative mindset for working in a multi-disciplinary team.

- This role is based on-site in Waterloo, Ontario.
- This is a full-time, paid student position with a rolling term.
