About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring an Underwriting Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Tallahassee, Florida. You will work within our underwriting team to gain experience in insurance operations and risk assessment.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and procedures.
- Become familiar with company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks.
- Develop a working knowledge of supporting sections within the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and other employees through verbal and written channels.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Ability to organize data and handle multiple tasks.
- Capacity to make decisions independently and resolve complex issues.
- Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
- You must be able to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
