About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring for a Personal Lines Underwriting Internship for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Columbia, Missouri office. You will work on-site to gain experience in insurance operations and decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Learn about insurance coverages, contracts, and company procedures to help make underwriting decisions.
- Study company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Review risks by looking at loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics.
- Work with different sections of the underwriting department to understand how they support the business.
- Talk and write to independent agents and other employees.
What you'll need#
- You are currently enrolled in college and entering your junior or senior year.
- You are pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- You can organize data, handle multiple tasks, and make decisions on your own.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You can resolve complex issues.
- You have an interest in building product knowledge through educational programs.

- Pay: $20.00 per hour.
