About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring for a Personal Lines Underwriting Internship for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Charlotte office. You will work on-site to gain experience in the insurance industry.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and procedures to support underwriting decisions.
- Review company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to understand their use.
- Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks.
- Build a working knowledge of the different sections within the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and other staff members.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, specifically entering your junior or senior year.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Ability to organize data, manage multiple tasks, and make independent decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to resolve complex issues.
- Interest in developing product knowledge through educational programs.
- Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
