About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Claims Representative Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Lansing, Michigan. You will gain experience in the insurance industry by working directly with claims resolution and policyholder services.
What you'll do#
- Investigate claims by phone, mail, and on-site visits to gather facts.
- Determine policy coverage and analyze legal liability.
- Evaluate the total amount of loss for each claim.
- Work toward claim resolution, which may include attending depositions, mediations, or trials.
- Ensure all claim payments are accurate and sent out on time.
- Study insurance policies and forms to build your technical knowledge.
- Assist agents and policyholders with their specific needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program as an incoming junior or senior.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Finance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize data and handle several assignments at once.
- Skill in resolving complex issues.
- Attention to detail.
