About the role#
The Merchandise Intern role provides hands-on experience in retail operations for the Chesapeake Baysox. This is a part-time, unpaid internship designed for current students who will receive academic credit for their participation. You will learn how a professional team store functions, from daily inventory management to game-day sales and fan engagement.
What you'll do#
- Manage inventory, including pricing, stocking, and organizing merchandise.
- Assist with the preparation and operation of the team store during home games and events.
- Support the marketing team with lifestyle photoshoots, social media content, and promotional efforts.
- Gain experience in visual merchandising and store layout to help drive sales.
- Track online sales performance and help fulfill customer orders.
- Learn purchasing strategies based on inventory needs and market trends.
- Assist with closing procedures after games and restock items as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student receiving academic credit in Sport Management, Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to follow established procedures.
- Ability to work event nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the team schedule.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems or the ability to learn these systems quickly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift between 10 and 40 pounds.

- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2026 (approximately April/May through mid-August).
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for college credit.
