About the role#
The Merchandise Intern role is a part-time position for university students earning academic credit. You will observe how a professional sports organization functions while gaining experience in merchandise sales, communication, and fan experience. This role requires working Frederick Keys home games and events.
What you'll do#
- Manage inventory, pricing, and stocking tasks.
- Fulfill online orders.
- Support the marketing team with lifestyle photoshoots and social media needs.
- Prepare the team store for game days and assist with back-filling merchandise during games.
- Close the store following the conclusion of games.
- Learn how to lay out a team store to drive sales and understand merchandise purchasing based on inventory needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Sport Management, Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Ability to earn academic credit for this internship.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with point of sale systems or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

- Location: Frederick, Maryland.
- Term: Summer 2026 (April/May through September, school schedule permitting).
- This position is unpaid and requires academic credit.
