About the role#
We are looking for a Transportation Tolling and ITS Engineering Intern to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia. This role supports the State Road and Tollway Authority General Engineering Contract Program. You will work alongside our staff, consultants, and client personnel on various design, construction, and systems projects, with a primary focus on express lanes.
What you'll do#
- Apply your knowledge of toll systems, toll operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems technologies to support planning and operational initiatives.
- Assist in the design and development of tolling concepts, including requirements analysis, specifications, system implementation, and testing.
- Work within small, multidisciplinary teams of tolling professionals.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project delivery activities.
- Collaborate with the client's engineering, project management, operations, communications, and legal teams.
- Serve as an extension of client staff by working closely with agency personnel on a daily basis.
- Establish and maintain records and files for technical data and project documents.
- Prepare project deliverables and apply engineering principles to solve toll-related challenges.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 36 credit hours toward a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial and Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong technical writing and verbal presentation skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is preferred.

- This internship is based on-site in Atlanta, Georgia.
- The term for this position is Winter 2027.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
