About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Resilience and Emergency Management Intern for our Austin, Texas office. This internship is for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with project teams on resilience, emergency management, grants, and disaster recovery programs.
What you'll do#
- Support project teams with research, data collection, document compilation, and meeting preparation.
- Review, organize, and track grant, application, project, or reimbursement documentation.
- Maintain project information in spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, and SharePoint sites.
- Prepare correspondence, meeting summaries, briefing materials, presentations, maps, and reporting documents.
- Perform quality control by checking documents for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and formatting.
- Assist with basic analysis, including compiling datasets, preparing tabulations, and summarizing findings.
- Coordinate internally with grants specialists, planners, engineers, and project managers.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours toward a related degree from an accredited college or university by the start of the internship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Willingness to learn SharePoint and other project-specific systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
- Basic analytical skills, including comfort with data entry, document review, and internet research.
- Familiarity with AI tools and processes.
- Interest in resilience, emergency management, hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, community planning, or infrastructure programs.
- Exposure to ArcGIS, Power BI, Smartsheet, Adobe Acrobat, or FEMA grant systems is preferred.
