About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is hiring an Environmental Sustainability Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based on-site in Charlotte, North Carolina. You will work as part of our team to support sustainability initiatives and project documentation.
What you'll do#
- Support the management of the US Sustainability Management Action Plan.
- Collaborate with internal task leads to track action items related to sustainability goals.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support sustainability objectives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
- Contribute to sustainability communications and project-related public materials.
- Manage document control and organization for project communications.
- Attend and document coordination meetings between the project team, clients, and government or local agencies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level program is preferred, specifically in sustainability, environmental studies, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Environmental Impact Statements, and general environmental regulations.
- Coursework or project experience in sustainability, carbon accounting, or corporate social responsibility.
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks like LEED or Envision, or experience with sustainable manufacturing, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with concepts such as carbon footprint calculation or lifecycle assessments.
- Strong technical writing and reporting abilities.
- Basic computer skills for data entry into spreadsheets and databases.
- Participation in campus or community sustainability initiatives.

- Location: Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $23 to $29 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
- Employment Type: Part-time, paid internship.
