About the role#
The Public Finance team at Assured Guaranty is looking for interns for the Summer 2027 program. You will work within sub-groups that handle origination and credit underwriting for U.S. Public Finance business. This role involves credit analysis, marketing support, and secondary market execution. You will finish the summer by completing a capstone project where you underwrite a sample transaction and present it to an informal credit committee.
What you'll do#
- Request financial and deal information from third-party vendors and clients.
- Enter data into underwriting software packages.
- Monitor and analyze market information for internal and external use.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis and modeling to assist credit analysts.
- Prepare deals for underwriting and interact with analysts on flow business.
- Use company-approved AI tools to help the Product Development and Modernization team improve business processes.
- Source new municipal bond business opportunities using various platforms.
- Update marketing materials for bankers, financial advisors, and investors.
What you'll need#
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work on a small team and manage multiple tasks.
- A strong willingness to learn new skills.
- Basic knowledge of fixed income or capital markets is preferred.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL are necessary for some positions.
- Priority is given to students studying Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or Computer Science.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 8 to July 30).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $30 to $32 per hour.
- Perks: Weekly catered breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, plus intern-specific meals and events. A housing stipend may be available for those residing outside of the tri-state area.
