About the role#
The Ethics & Compliance Internship at Assurant is a 12-week immersive program designed to provide hands-on experience across multiple compliance disciplines. You will contribute to strategic initiatives that support a culture of integrity and responsible innovation. This role involves a rotational experience through various teams, including business unit compliance, ethics and investigations, risk assessment, and policy management. A primary focus of this position is a capstone project centered on the use of Artificial Intelligence within Ethics & Compliance.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through multiple Ethics & Compliance teams to gain exposure to different functional areas.
- Research regulatory requirements, industry trends, and emerging risks.
- Support the development, review, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and governance documents.
- Analyze data to prepare reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and operational efficiencies.
- Participate in compliance risk assessments, monitoring activities, and program evaluations.
- Assist in developing employee communications, training materials, and awareness campaigns.
- Collaborate with team members across various business functions.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and research leading industry practices for the AI capstone project.
- Develop and present recommendations for practical AI use cases to Ethics & Compliance leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Risk Management, Compliance, Law, Public Policy, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Interest in artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and responsible innovation.
- Experience with data analysis, research projects, or process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership through academic, volunteer, or extracurricular activities.
