About the role#
Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. is hiring a Risk Management Intern for the Winter and Summer 2027 terms. This is a paid, part-time position based on-site at our headquarters in Springfield, Missouri. You will gain hands-on experience in corporate risk management, insurance programs, and claims processes within the utility sector.
What you'll do#
- Gather data and assist in preparing insurance applications.
- Maintain records of open loss files.
- Compile payroll data and help complete quarterly reports for state-mandated payments.
- Process requests for certificates of insurance from members and vendors.
- Assist with claim documentation, data entry, and spreadsheet calculations.
- Draft insurer notifications and track legal correspondence.
- Prepare claim documentation and files related to asbestos litigation and other incidents.
- Help create PowerPoint presentations for internal claims review meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related degree program.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework toward a bachelor's degree.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A willingness to learn.
- Interest in insurance programs, data collection, claims processes, and corporate risk strategies.
