About the role#
The Aspire Internship Program offers students experience within our private special education schools. You will work with children who have social, behavioral, and academic needs. This program is unpaid and requires full-time availability during school hours, which are Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm. Please note that this is an on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct services to children with various diagnoses including Autism, ADD, ADHD, and trauma.
- Engage in one-on-one therapeutic encounters with students.
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans, including IEPs and behavior plans.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, social workers, behavior technicians, BCBAs, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists.
- Participate in case management and attend team, staff, provider, parent, and IEP/PPT meetings.
- Develop and support school-wide initiatives such as social emotional learning, therapeutic group work, and school culture projects.
- Receive weekly supervision from a site-based supervisor to track learning objectives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program accepted by the internship program.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- A collaborative approach to working with staff and students.
- Ability to pass a background check.
