About the role#
The 2026 Archives Fall Intern will assist with the arrangement, digitization, and description of archival collections. This role provides hands-on experience in an art museum setting, specifically working with the Dr. Francis V. O’Connor Research Collection. This collection includes artist files, manuscripts, and papers related to Jackson Pollock and artists of the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration.
What you'll do#
- Assist Library and Archives staff with the assessment, arrangement, and stabilization of physical records.
- Create inventories, conduct research on materials, and rehouse records.
- Digitize archival records, including naming, describing, and organizing digital files.
- Assist in the creation of archival database records and collection finding aids.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- An academic background in library or information science, art history, or a related field.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft apps.
- Familiarity with archival databases and digitization equipment or software is a plus.
- A dependable and punctual approach to work.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds to a height of three feet and perform tasks requiring bending and stretching.
