About the role#
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society offers an internship for students interested in event planning and volunteer management. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting a large-scale nonprofit event. This role requires working with staff to coordinate logistics and manage volunteer operations. You will work 40 hours per week from January 11, 2027, through April 30, 2027, with some evening and weekend hours expected.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning and coordination of the 2027 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show.
- Manage the Volunteer Lounge at the Flower Show, serving as a primary point of contact for volunteers.
- Support volunteer recruitment, communications, and training efforts.
- Handle volunteer data management for the Fall Tree Plantings and Tree Week.
- Collaborate with the Infonet Committee on customer service initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a program such as Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or Public Health.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to lift 20lbs and endure extended periods of walking or standing.
