About the role#
We are looking for summer students to join our Financial, Operations, and Production Accounting teams for the 2027 season. These roles provide an opportunity to gain experience in the oil and gas industry while building your accounting skills. You will work on-site in Calgary and contribute to our daily business operations.
What you'll do#
- Financial Accounting: Prepare journal entries, reconcile account balances, and assist with management reporting packages. You will also support budget preparation, financial system testing, ESTMA reporting, and Statistics Canada surveys.
- Operations Accounting: Handle daily invoice processing, including verification and approvals. You will upload invoices, manage cheque requests, and assist the AP Coordinator with journal entries.
- Production Accounting: Gather and analyze data for revenue, royalty, and fee calculations. You will perform account reconciliations, review property reports, update ownership records, and work with field staff to resolve data discrepancies.
What you'll need#
- You are currently in your second or third year of a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration program.
- We prefer candidates pursuing Accounting or a related business discipline who are returning to their studies after the summer term.
- You have intermediate skills in MS Office 365, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- You work well both independently and in a team environment, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues.
- Previous experience in accounting or financial systems like SAP is an asset.
- An interest in the CAPPA Certificate Program is preferred for those interested in Production Accounting roles.
