About the role#
The Student Worker - Barista crafts a consistent experience for customers by providing timely service, quality beverages, and a clean environment. You will process transactions, follow recipes, and maintain the coffee bar while meeting food safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Operate the register or POS system to handle cash and credit transactions.
- Greet customers and assist with their needs.
- Prepare coffees, teas, specialty beverages, and food items according to brand and location standards.
- Organize and balance cash drawers, fill out cashier slips, and make deposits.
- Follow all cash handling policies.
- Set up and break down the coffee bar and service stations.
- Clean and sanitize your work area.
- Stock beverage coolers, grab and go items, service ware, and condiments.
- Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
What you'll need#
- Basic math and counting skills.
- Ability to read and communicate in English.
- Ability to follow recipes.
- Capability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Willingness to follow the assigned dress code.
- Ability to complete Food Handling Certification as required.
- Previous experience in customer service, cash handling, or as a barista is preferred.
- This role involves physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. You may be required to wear a uniform or use personal protective equipment.
