About the role#
This position is for a Student Worker in Food Service or Catering at UMass Lowell, Cumnock Hall. You will assist with daily food preparation and service while gaining experience in a professional kitchen environment. This role is open to students from various fields of study, including Business Administration, Nutrition, Engineering, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, and Marketing.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items using standardized recipes.
- Set up workstations, including prep tables, service counters, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers and ensure product levels remain stocked.
- Maintain a positive demeanor and provide helpful service to guests and co-workers.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies.
- Break down, clean, and sanitize workstations after service.
- Ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to demonstrate guest service skills.
- Must possess or be willing to acquire food safety certification.
- Previous experience in food service is preferred.
- Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or use personal protective equipment as required.
