About the role#
This summer 2027 internship provides hands-on experience within Amgen’s Technology and Medical organizations. You will work alongside data engineers and scientists to build scalable data pipelines and contribute to the development of machine learning models. This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test scalable data pipelines for ingestion and transformation.
- Clean, prepare, and analyze both structured and unstructured data.
- Support the automation of model training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines.
- Explore and analyze pharmaceutical commercial datasets to generate insights.
- Build visualizations and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Apply statistical techniques such as hypothesis testing, regression, and classification.
- Collaborate on implementing and monitoring production machine learning models.
- Document technical processes, models, and tools.
- Experiment with new tools in data engineering and MLOps.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years or older and hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program (MBA, Master’s, PharmD, or Ph.D.) and have completed the first year of the program.
- Preferred concentration in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Foundational experience in Python or R, including libraries for data manipulation, visualization, and machine learning.
- Basic understanding of SQL and experience querying data.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with version control tools and collaborative coding.
- Awareness of tools such as Databricks, Apache Spark, or Apache Airflow.
- Coursework in areas like software development, database modeling, or agile processes.
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and across functional lines.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Location & details#
- Location: Remote (United States).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $35.34 - $41.20 per hour.
- Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of the program. Sponsorship for future full-time roles is not guaranteed.
