    About the role#

    American University is hiring an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for an introductory American Sign Language course. This part-time position involves supporting classroom instruction and helping students build their signing skills. You will work 4 hours per week.

    What you'll do#

    • Facilitate small-group practice sessions for students.
    • Provide peer support as students develop their receptive and expressive signing abilities.
    • Model ASL use during class activities.
    • Prepare instructional materials and organize course resources.
    • Assist the instructor with administrative tasks including attendance and technology setup.
    • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as an American University student.
    • Successful completion of the introductory ASL course or equivalent coursework.
    • A strong record of academic achievement.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in ASL.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Reliability and a professional approach to working with students and faculty.
