About the role#
Voices for Healthy Kids, an initiative of the American Heart Association, is looking for an intern to support our communications and marketing team. This role focuses on design and outreach materials to support national advocacy efforts. You will gain hands-on experience in a non-profit environment while helping ensure brand consistency across our digital and print assets.
What you'll do#
- Review and update existing communications materials to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Design new content including one-pagers, social graphics, slide templates, and toolkits.
- Ensure all work aligns with brand guidelines, including visual identity and tone.
- Support layout and design tasks using established templates.
- Fact-check language, data points, and citations to maintain research-based accuracy.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to refine content and keep projects on schedule.
What you'll need#
- Current college senior or graduate student in communications, public health, journalism, public policy, or public relations.
- Experience in public policy or a clear interest in non-profit and health care communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- Ability to manage projects independently from start to finish.
- Proficiency in Canva.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Interest in translating complex information into easy-to-understand content.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, remote internship.
- The term runs from January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027.
- You must be available for at least 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9am and 5pm.
- A reliable Wi-Fi connection is required.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
