About the role#
This is a temporary, full-time internship for Summer 2027. You will join the team in Houston, Texas, to perform structural dynamic analysis on spacecraft and lunar vehicles. This role supports NASA human spaceflight programs, including Orion, the Human Landing System, and the Gateway program. The internship duration is not to exceed 12 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Perform finite element model checks and dynamic model reductions.
- Execute dynamic analyses using commercial and in-house software codes.
- Conduct vibroacoustic analysis on finite element models.
- Identify critical modes for integrated systems or individual components.
- Review and process modal and structural data.
- Develop test plans, document results, and perform signal processing on analytical or test data.
- Write and maintain simulation scripts, primarily using Python.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Completion of at least 45 credit hours.
- A minimum GPA of 2.8.
- Coursework in Statics and Dynamics.
- Working knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
- Ability to pass a U.S. government background investigation.
