About the role#
This summer internship supports the Indianapolis Exits Manufacturing Plant with Lean transformation and daily management initiatives. You will work directly with plant operations and leadership to incorporate Lean principles into the company culture. Your efforts will help improve safety, quality, delivery, and inventory management.
What you'll do#
- Implement tactical strategies to meet long and short-term objectives.
- Coach employees and leaders to drive Lean behaviors and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with the value stream team on process improvements, operational design, and systems support.
- Use value stream mapping techniques to identify areas for growth.
- Direct Gemba Walks and teach others about continuous improvement, including takt time attainment.
- Build and maintain visual performance tools.
- Provide project updates to Value Stream Leadership regarding key metrics and sustainability.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial engineering, or supply chain management is preferred, though relevant experience is considered.
- At least 4 years of experience working with Lean concepts or the Toyota Production System.
- Experience in front-line leadership within operations or materials.
- Familiarity with distribution, warehousing, or logistics facilities is a plus.
- Understanding of PowerBI, WMS, MES, and ERP systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to influence and motivate teams to facilitate change.
