About the role#
As an Operational Excellence Lean Intern, you will support the Colorado Springs plant through lean transformation and daily management initiatives. You will work directly with plant operations and leadership to implement improvements across safety, quality, delivery, and inventory. This role is an opportunity to contribute to the plant's growth while learning how lean principles and tools are integrated into the culture.
What you'll do#
- Support continuous improvement projects by collecting data, observing processes, and implementing deliverables using lean methodologies.
- Drive culture change by coaching employees and leaders on lean behaviors.
- Collaborate with the value stream team on operational design, process improvements, and systems support.
- Participate in and direct Gemba Walks.
- Educate others on continuous improvement, including takt time attainment.
- Implement and maintain visual performance tools.
- Shadow floor operators, supervisors, and management to observe process steps and build rapport.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Effective listening, time management, communication, and creative problem-solving techniques.
- A strong willingness to learn, curiosity about processes, and openness to hands-on shop floor experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. Please note that sponsorship is not provided for this position.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Visio, and project management tools is preferred.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher and previous work experience are preferred.

- Compensation: $22-$23 per hour.
