About the role#
African Communities Together is seeking an ESOL Tutor Intern for the Fall 2026 cohort of the Healthcare Support Career Accelerator program. This part-time, paid internship provides hands-on experience in education and workforce development. You will support program coordination, participant engagement, and community service delivery over a three-month period from September 1st to November 27th, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist the ESOL instructor with in-person class setup, materials, and attendance tracking.
- Provide weekly group or 1-on-1 tutoring sessions for program participants.
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned by the Workforce Team.
What you'll need#
- Experience facilitating tutoring sessions for individuals and groups.
- Previous tutoring or ESOL teaching experience.
- Proficiency in English and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfort working with diverse, immigrant communities.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and common business software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Access to a working laptop.
- Alignment with the mission and values of African Communities Together.
- Multilingual skills, such as French, are a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid role based in the New York office.
- Interns must be available to work on-site on Tuesdays and Thursdays during class hours.
- The position requires up to 12 hours of work per week.
- Compensation is $22 per hour.

The group focuses on social integration, economic advancement, and political advocacy for the African immigrant diaspora in the United States.
