About the role#
Aecon is looking for an Engineering Co-op Student for the Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade Project in Campbell River, British Columbia. This on-site position provides hands-on experience on a critical infrastructure project. You will work with engineers, superintendents, and project teams on heavy civil construction tasks including concrete work, earthworks, and structural upgrades. This is a full-time, paid role.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for project staff.
- Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with daily tasks.
- Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
- Review completed work for quality and accuracy.
- Monitor project schedules and assist with job cost reports and month-end reconciliation.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining engineering drawings and bills of materials.
- Help prepare detailed construction and design estimates.
- Maintain project files and correspondence.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
- Perform administrative duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related program.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, and materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to flexible schedules, including day or night shifts.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Previous construction experience and knowledge of AutoCAD or Bluebeam are considered assets.

- Location: Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling (please indicate your preferred duration of 4, 8, 12, or 16 months).
- Compensation: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, with eligibility for overtime.
