About the role#
Aecon is seeking an Engineering Co-op Student for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project in Surrey, British Columbia. This is a site-based position where you will work with engineers, superintendents, and project teams to gain experience in major transit construction. You will assist with planning, scheduling, cost control, and daily field operations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and analysis while providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports to project staff.
- Assist field engineers and superintendents with daily tasks.
- Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and take-offs from construction drawings.
- Review completed work for quality and accuracy.
- Monitor progress and help prepare job cost reports and month-end reconciliation data.
- Maintain project files and correspondence.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft, and subcontractors.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering drawings and bills of materials.
- Help prepare construction and design estimates.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to flexible work schedules.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, and materials is preferred.
- Beginner knowledge of AutoCAD or Bluebeam is an asset.

- Location: Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Role Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, with all positions eligible for overtime.
- Term: Rolling (please indicate your preferred term length of 4, 8, 12, or 16 months).
