About the role#
The Federal Work Study Gallery Assistant supports gallery and retail spaces at the Academy of Art University. You will act as a primary point of contact for visitors, students, and staff. This role involves maintaining the gallery space, handling sales, and helping with exhibition setups. This is a paid, part-time position open to current students.
What you'll do#
- Welcome visitors and provide customer service.
- Process sales transactions and prepare reports using the POS system.
- Assist with the installation and de-installation of monthly art exhibitions.
- Answer incoming calls in a professional manner.
- Support special events, such as the annual Fine Art Faculty Auction.
- Catalog art and merchandise sales.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one semester of classes at ArtU.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Prior experience in retail or customer service.
- Experience working in a gallery or as a docent.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.
Location & details#
- Location: 2801 Leavenworth, San Francisco, CA.
- Work Modality: Fully on-site.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, scheduled around your classes.
- Employment Term: Rolling, from your starting term through graduation.
- Pay Rate: $19.61 per hour.
- Eligibility: Must be a Federal Work Study student.
