Medtronic Internships: 2027 Guide

Medtronic internships for Summer 2027 by track, with terms, locations, eligibility and apply-by dates as listed on Intern Insider on 25 October 2026.

Medtronic internships on Intern Insider are all for Summer 2027, and there are only a few of them open. As of 25 October 2026, the Medtronic page on Intern Insider lists 7 open internships: one engineering role, one clinical role, three technical roles in Puerto Rico and two MBA roles. This guide walks through each of the 7, with the terms, locations, eligibility lines and apply-by dates the postings state, so you can tell quickly whether one fits you.

Every detail below comes from the Medtronic postings as listed on Intern Insider on 25 October 2026. Postings open and close often, so the posting you apply through is the final word on its own terms.

What Medtronic internships look like in 2027#

The Medtronic company page describes Medtronic as a public medical equipment manufacturer headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and lists its size as 10,001+ employees. The 7 open internships sit in two places: Minnesota and Puerto Rico.

All 7 are marked as paid and full-time. Each one asks for authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, which is covered in the eligibility section below.

Seven roles is a short list for an employer of this size, so it helps to watch the company page for new postings and to keep a few similar employers in view. Those are at the end of this guide.

    Engineering internship#

The Engineering Intern posting is the broadest of the 7. It describes a full-time, 10-11 week program for Summer 2027, run as an intern cohort with educational and social programming, and it asks interns to work on-site at least 4 days per week. The program runs from June 1 to August 13 for students on semester systems, or June 14 to August 20 for students on quarter systems, at 40 hours per week.

The work listed covers engineering projects in research and development, manufacturing or operations, analysis of operational, manufacturing, quality or engineering data, and technical documentation such as engineering reports and project summaries.

To apply, the posting asks for:

    • Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in biomedical, mechanical, electrical, industrial or computer engineering, or computer science.

    • An anticipated graduation date of Winter 2027, Spring 2028, Winter 2028 or Spring 2029.

    • Current authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

It also lists experience in manufacturing, operations or process improvement as preferred. The posting names 20 locations, including Mounds View, Minneapolis, Plymouth, Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center in Minnesota, Tempe in Arizona, Irvine, Santa Ana and Santa Rosa in California, Boulder and Lafayette in Colorado, and Boston, Newton and Mansfield in Massachusetts.

One line matters before you apply. The posting says this opening is intended for candidates attending the "2026 National SWE Convention." If you did not attend, treat this listing as a signal of what Medtronic engineering internships ask for, and watch the company page for a general posting.

There is no separate software engineering internship open on 25 October 2026. Because the Engineering Intern posting lists computer science and computer engineering among its eligible programs, it is the open option for software students. For more software roles at other employers, see the software engineering internships page and our computer science internships guide. Mechanical engineering students can compare the mechanical engineering internships page and our mechanical engineering internships guide.

    Clinical internship#

The Associate Clinical Experience (ACE) Intern posting describes a program designed to build a pipeline for future clinical careers at Medtronic. Interns work with Clinical and Mapping Specialists, observe and support cardiac procedures in hospitals and electrophysiology labs, and complete training led by the Medtronic Field Education team.

This role has a longer commitment than the others. The posting asks for full-time work of 40 hours per week during the summer, then part-time work of 4-10 hours per week during the following academic year. The summer portion runs from June 1 to August 14 or from June 15 to August 21. It is hybrid and on-site, with openings across the United States, and you must live within your assigned territory for the internship and the following academic year.

    The requirements are specific:

    • Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program in biomedical engineering or a related discipline.

    • An anticipated graduation date of Winter 2027 or Spring 2028.

    • A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

    • A valid driver license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the territory.

    • Ability to work in hospital and clinical settings, including observing live medical procedures.

The biomedical engineering internships page lists 651 open roles across employers as of 25 October 2026, if you want to compare this one with others in the field.

    Puerto Rico summer internships#

Three postings are for Medtronic sites in Puerto Rico: the Medtronic PR Internship and the Medtronic PR Summer Internship in Humacao and Juncos, and the Medtronic Summer Internship PR in Ponce and Villalba.

The three read almost the same. Each is a full-time, paid, on-site technical internship of 12 weeks, from May 24 to August 13, 2027. The listed work is research support for service, product or project groups, help with technical projects, and analysis, reporting and internal communication for the team. The Medtronic PR Internship and Ponce postings also mention training, networking and leadership events.

Each asks for enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program, completion of at least 4 years of studies in the current bachelor degree, a minimum 3.0 GPA and unrestricted United States work authorization. The Ponce posting allows equivalent credits in place of 4 years of studies. These are not first-year or second-year roles.

    MBA internships#

Two postings are for MBA students in Minneapolis. Both are hybrid, with 4 days a week in the office.

The Corporate Development Intern supports a group that handles mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, technology licenses and divestitures. The posting says interns work on 4 to 6 projects at once, with market and financial analysis including valuation and scenario modeling. It runs from June 14 to August 20, 2027. It asks for enrollment in a full-time MBA program graduating in Spring 2028 and at least 5 years of professional experience, and it states that sponsorship is not provided.

The MBA LDRP Internship is an 11-week summer program with exposure to marketing, business development and business strategy. The posting says interns who do well are considered for the full-time Leadership Development Rotation Program after graduation. It asks for enrollment in an MBA program graduating in Spring 2028 and at least 4 years of full-time work experience. If this is your track, our business internship resume guide covers how to present that experience.

    Who can apply#

Read the eligibility lines before the job duties. Across the 7 open postings, three patterns stand out:

    • Work authorization. Each posting asks for authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, or unrestricted United States work authorization. None of the 7 is in Canada, and none offers sponsorship.

    • Graduation window. The Engineering Intern and ACE postings name specific graduation terms, and the two MBA postings both ask for a Spring 2028 graduation.

    • GPA. The ACE posting and the three Puerto Rico postings each ask for a minimum 3.0 GPA.

    When and how to apply#

The apply-by dates shown on the postings run from 11 November to 21 December. The Engineering Intern listing shows 11 November and the ACE listing shows 16 November. The three Puerto Rico listings show 9 December as the date they are best applied by, and both MBA listings show 21 December.

Each posting has an Apply Now button. The postings do not describe the Medtronic interview steps, so this guide does not cover them. A posting can also close before the date it shows. Our analysis of when internship postings close compares posted deadlines with the dates postings closed, and our guide to summer 2027 internships and when applications open covers the wider timeline. For the engineering and software tracks, the tech internship resume guide covers how to present projects.

    Pay#

All 7 open Medtronic postings are marked as paid on Intern Insider, and several state in their details that the internship is paid. None of the 7 states a pay figure or range as listed on 25 October 2026, so this guide does not give one. If pay matters to your decision, ask the recruiter once you reach that stage.

    Similar employers and open roles#

If none of the 7 fits, other medical device employers have more roles open. As of 25 October 2026, the Medtronic company page lists these employers as hiring like Medtronic: Stryker with 117 open internships, Arthrex with 58, Insulet Corporation with 38 and Boston Scientific with 20. The medical equipment manufacturing internships page lists 381 open roles across the industry, and the Summer 2027 internships page covers every field.
