About the role#
As an Enterprise Systems Software Engineer Intern, you will manage the operational systems that power our manufacturing, supply chain, inventory tracking, and field deployments. You will work directly with hardware and operations teams to build and maintain the software that ensures our global production remains reliable. This role requires you to take ownership of critical services that support our aircraft throughput and safety.
What you'll do#
- Drive core product domains by acting as the primary architect for systems related to manufacturing, finance, and parts traceability.
- Lead technical design by defining APIs, data models, and service boundaries while prioritizing system observability.
- Build resilient integrations between digital services and physical hardware tooling.
- Participate in on-call rotations to maintain service availability and lead incident responses.
- Work directly on the manufacturing floor to prototype workflows and observe how your software impacts real-world operations.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- A product-minded approach to engineering that balances business value with technical simplicity.
- Strong technical fundamentals with the ability to design maintainable systems and model data effectively.
- Experience with or the ability to quickly learn a modern technology stack including Python, Go, PostgreSQL, React, Kafka, gRPC, AWS, Grafana, and Honeycomb.
- A systems perspective that allows you to break down ambiguous operational problems into clear, actionable software solutions.
- An owner's mindset, focusing on velocity while maintaining correctness in a safety-critical environment.
Location & details#
- Location: South San Francisco, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April 2027).
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site role requiring 5 days per week in the office or at operations sites.
- Compensation: $54 per hour.
