About the role#
As a Civil and Structural Engineer Intern on the Ground Systems Deployment team, you will help build the infrastructure that supports our drone delivery network. You will work on site layouts, charging infrastructure, and foundations while helping us refine how our hardware integrates with the built environment. This role involves turning site concepts into reality through design, permitting, and construction support.
What you'll do#
- Support the civil and structural design of new Zipline sites.
- Perform structural calculations and create technical drawings for deployment.
- Develop and improve reusable design standards for charging sites and equipment pads.
- Assist with permitting and regulatory reviews by coordinating with municipalities and external consultants.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Real Estate, Systems Engineering, and Tower Engineering, to solve site-specific engineering challenges.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least the second year of undergraduate studies in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Current Master's and PhD students are also eligible.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and drafting software like AutoCAD or Revit.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with building codes and site plan development is a plus.

- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
- The term runs from January 2027 through April 2027.
- This position is paid.
