About the role#
Steel King Industries is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work from our corporate office in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, reporting to the Director of Engineering. This role provides hands-on experience in the material handling industry, working alongside structural engineers and product designers.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Engineer of Record with structural engineering calculations.
- Support sales efforts by preparing engineering drawings and bills of materials for quotes and proposals.
- Review drawings from the drafting and detailing team to ensure they meet company standards.
- Perform load testing and analyze the resulting data to prepare technical reports.
- Help create technical documentation and training presentations.
- Visit factory floors or project sites to observe progress and assist with inspections.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, RISA, or STAAD Pro is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working in a team environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
- Term: June 2027 to August 2027.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
