About the role#
As an MEP Designer Intern at Z Modular, you will contribute to the design and engineering of modular construction projects. You will gain exposure to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while working alongside engineers and designers. You will report to the Electrical Designer to prepare drawings, ensure code compliance, and support projects from concept through fabrication. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Troy, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing structural and MEP plans, sections, elevations, and details.
- Prepare shop drawings for plant fabrication using Revit.
- Create detailed drawings for shop installations and site-built conditions.
- Provide calculations for design specifications.
- Research building codes and standards to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support multiple projects at various stages.
- Participate in weekly design meetings.
- Join team members for on-site project observations.
- Promote healthy and safe work practices.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your junior year in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Knowledge and experience using Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Availability to travel for the Internship Summit.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
