About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern at the Atlas Tube facility in Birmingham, you will support the engineering team with electrical, controls, and maintenance projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to industrial electrical systems and manufacturing equipment. You will work alongside experienced professionals to help maintain safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
What you'll do#
- Support electrical engineering and controls projects focused on improving manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting, testing, and issue resolution alongside maintenance team members.
- Participate in electrical panel walk-downs, wiring checks, and equipment inspections.
- Review electrical drawings, technical diagrams, and equipment documentation.
- Collect and analyze data regarding equipment performance, downtime, and reliability.
- Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement activities for automated systems.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Promote safe work practices in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
- Coursework or introductory exposure to coding, PLCs, automation, or controls.
- Ability to read technical diagrams or a strong willingness to learn.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing or plant-floor environment.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and a willingness to ask questions.
