About the role#
As an Automation Engineer intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting electrical and robotic systems within our manufacturing environment. You will work alongside our production teams and department managers to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering projects. This role involves direct exposure to PLC programming, system troubleshooting, and robotics applications on the plant floor.
What you'll do#
- Assist in managing new and existing controls projects, including coordination with vendors and contractors.
- Support the design and implementation of electrical and robotics solutions.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs and robotics equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control diagrams.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes to find opportunities for automation or improvements.
- Research robotics technologies and support feasibility analyses.
- Develop and document control systems using AutoCAD.
- Maintain accurate records of plant equipment, modifications, and system updates.
- Analyze data from plant processes and present findings in written reports.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement process enhancements.
- Follow and promote healthy and safe work practices.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with solid organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment in technical settings.
- Availability to travel for the Internship Summit.
