About the role#
The Community Intern program is a 6-month development opportunity designed to support local engagement efforts. You will work alongside a local Community Manager to build relationships with small business owners and promote local businesses through events, partnerships, and social media. This role involves a mix of remote work and local activity in the North County San Diego area.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Community Manager to understand the local market and prioritize messaging.
- Plan and execute various events, including local meet-ups, parties, and happy hours.
- Create and organize social media content to grow channels and increase engagement.
- Maintain local online business listings by ensuring accurate information, flagging photos, and identifying media alerts.
- Engage with the community directly through the Yelp app and website.
What you'll need#
- Current college student, recent graduate, or individual pursuing a career change.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Current resident of the North County San Diego area with reliable transportation.
- Experience or interest in event planning and coordination.
- Proficiency in social media copywriting and asset coordination.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds without assistance.
- Flexibility to work 10-19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend availability.
Location & details#
- This position is based in North County San Diego, California.
- The role is remote-friendly, though local presence is required for event execution.
- Compensation is $17.00 - $20.00 per hour.
- Internship term: Summer 2026.
