About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work alongside engineers and scientists on active projects. You will contribute to real reactor design and licensing efforts while learning from professionals in the field. This is a pipeline requisition for Summer 2027, and we review applications on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Support active engineering projects and analyses within your area of study.
- Assist with the day-to-day technical and operational needs of your team.
- Conduct research, gather technical data, and synthesize findings to inform design initiatives.
- Help develop reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain project files, technical records, and documentation.
- Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a degree in nuclear engineering or a related field.
- Academic or hands-on knowledge in one or more of the following: reactor core design, radiation shielding, nuclear fuel analysis, criticality safety, reactor multiphysics or transient analysis, nuclear materials and chemistry, or software development and validation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Submission of at least one letter of recommendation from a professor, advisor, employer, or mentor.
Location & details#
- Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland.
- Work modality: Fully on-site, 5 days per week.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-week program).
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
- Compensation: $25/hour for undergraduates; $40/hour for graduate students.
