About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Whiting, Iowa. You will work on-site throughout the summer of 2027. The role involves a mix of indoor warehouse work and outdoor field tasks, requiring you to work in varying weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the production of high-quality seed corn through field operations, bulk processing, warehousing, and distribution.
- Manage inventory of bulk and bagged seed using an electronic system.
- Re-bag returned seed, including labeling, tagging, and palletizing.
- Schedule and dispatch vehicles for seed returns.
- Set up and maintain packaging supplies.
- Collect seed samples for quality assurance and conduct field inspections.
- Maintain professional relationships with growers, contractors, and inspectors.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate Sophomore or Junior status.
- Major in Agriculture, Business, or a related field.
- Previous experience in agriculture, production, research, or farming.
- A solid understanding of key agricultural concepts.
- Proficiency in using computers for data collection and inventory management.
- Experience with instruments used to measure and record data.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures.
