About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Structural Engineering Intern for our Transportation Team in New York City. This role is part of a 12-week summer program starting May 17, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to gain hands-on experience and professional development through our internal network.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of structural engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in structural engineering and a desire to develop your professional skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is preferred, as is prior internship or campus leadership experience.

- Compensation: $19 to $30 per hour.
