About the role#
This is a full-time internship for the Summer 2027 term, running from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027. You will work on-site in our Trussville, Alabama office as part of the Power team. This role provides hands-on experience on real projects while working alongside senior staff.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks to build technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Civil, Structural, and Mechanical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Adhere to company policies, including the Code of Conduct and safety standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Ability to work in the United States.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Strong interest in engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to follow direction from leadership.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of prioritizing workplace safety.
- Coursework in structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying is preferred.
- Familiarity with software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, and SharePoint is a plus.
- Preference is given to students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam.
