About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship position for Summer 2027. You will join our Power and Energy team to gain hands-on experience by working alongside senior staff on real projects. The program lasts 12 weeks and is scheduled to begin on May 17, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks to build your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of Distribution Design Engineering.
- Work under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Assist with data collection and engineering consulting services.
- Support distribution planning, coordination, sectionalizing, and arc-flash studies for Medium Voltage systems.
- Complete assigned training and perform additional duties as business needs arise.
- Adhere to company policies, including the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program for Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in the Electric Utility industry or Consulting Engineering.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Enrollment in a related Master's program or prior internship and leadership experience is preferred.

- This position is based on-site in Birmingham, Alabama, or Trussville, Alabama.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
