About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Electrical Engineering intern for our Summer 2027 program in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a 12-week on-site position starting May 17, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on power and energy projects, gaining hands-on experience while developing your technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
- Participate in substation design, covering physical, electrical, relaying, and grounding aspects.
- Assist with transmission and distribution projects.
- Gain experience in system relaying and protection, including station and transmission relaying and distribution coordination studies.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Adhere to company policies, including the Code of Conduct and safety guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to take direction from leadership.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Successful completion of junior-level power system courses is preferred, specifically in areas like three-phase power, load flow, protective relaying, and power system transients.
- Familiarity with design or engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Mathcad is a plus.
- Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam are encouraged to apply.
