About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Winona Health, you will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to support our inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. This role involves following routine procedures and adhering to laws regarding pharmacy practice. You will gain experience in clinical activities and pharmacy operations while contributing to the daily care of our patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete orientation and educational requirements.
- Assist pharmacists in providing safe, effective, and efficient pharmaceutical care.
- Process, prepare, and dispense medications for inpatient and outpatient orders, including critical or high-expense items.
- Perform pharmacy technician duties and ensure timely distribution of medications to patient care areas.
- Use computer systems, including Cerner and PioneerRx, to manage pharmacy functions and medication charging.
- Follow all established protocols for controlled substances.
- Maintain patient, family, and staff confidentiality.
- Collaborate with caregivers from other departments to strengthen pharmacy services.
- Manage special projects as assigned and prioritize tasks to ensure timely delivery of products.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active enrollment in good standing at an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy, or status as a graduate working toward licensure.
- Current registration as a Pharmacy Intern in good standing with the state of Minnesota.
- Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and patient information databases.
- Ability to handle medications with a high potential for abuse.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Winona, Minnesota.
- Schedule: Part-time, casual on-call hours between 6:30 am and 10:00 pm, including rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $18.45 to $23.06 per hour.
