About the role#
Western National Insurance is hiring a Product Development Intern for the Summer 2027 program. This role supports the team that builds, maintains, and improves personal and commercial insurance products. You will gain hands-on experience with product research, data analysis, and regulatory filings while working across departments like Actuarial, Underwriting, and Claims.
What you'll do#
- Compile, organize, validate, and analyze information for product development projects.
- Review and update product materials, including forms, rates, rules, manuals, and templates.
- Identify trends and patterns in data and summarize your findings for the team.
- Research insurance requirements and market practices to recommend practical solutions.
- Collaborate with partners in Technology, Compliance, Operations, and Analytics.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Business, Insurance, or a related field.
- Interest in how insurance products are structured, priced, regulated, and administered.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and learn new systems.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site at our corporate office in Edina, Minnesota.
- Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
