About the role#
This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based in Tyler, Texas. The role focuses on performing basic mechanical tasks on poultry processing equipment while adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, including adjusting and replacing belts, changing pump oils, and replacing parts.
- Assist maintenance technicians with active work orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the Line Leader or Supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering programs.
- Mechanical aptitude, with preference given to those with experience working on poultry processing equipment.
- Ability to drive a forklift or pallet jack, or the willingness to learn and become certified.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised.
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in varied environments, including wet/cold (45ºF) or hot/humid conditions.
- Physical ability to traverse the facility, including stairs and ladders, and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to inspect all parts of equipment, including interior and underneath, with good visual acuity and color distinction.
