Maintenance Intern

About the role#

This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based in Tyler, Texas. The role focuses on performing basic mechanical tasks on poultry processing equipment while adhering to company safety policies and procedures.

What you'll do#

• Perform routine equipment maintenance, including adjusting and replacing belts, changing pump oils, and replacing parts.
• Assist maintenance technicians with active work orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
• Report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by the Line Leader or Supervisor.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering programs.
• Mechanical aptitude, with preference given to those with experience working on poultry processing equipment.
• Ability to drive a forklift or pallet jack, or the willingness to learn and become certified.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised.
• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in varied environments, including wet/cold (45ºF) or hot/humid conditions.
• Physical ability to traverse the facility, including stairs and ladders, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to inspect all parts of equipment, including interior and underneath, with good visual acuity and color distinction.
