About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work within our team to improve the Waymo Driver through research and development in vehicle intent and prediction. This position is hybrid and based in Mountain View, California.
What you'll do#
- Train and evaluate the Loss of Control model to assess the quality impact of your changes.
- Use existing learned models to derive signals on data quality.
- Design and implement measures to determine the effectiveness of these signals.
- Develop or augment data pipelines to annotate synthetic training data with your signals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program.
- Proficiency in ML coding with Python, such as JAX or PyTorch.
- Strong knowledge of foundational statistics and mathematics.
- Familiarity with neural networks.
- Experience with C++ is preferred, particularly for data processing pipelines.
- Prior experience with robotics or prediction problems is a plus.
- Relevant academic background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
