About the role#
The WBD Academic Year Internship (WAY) program offers students a six-month professional experience from October 12, 2026, to April 16, 2027. This program is designed for rising seniors graduating in Spring 2027 who are interested in broadcast news and documentary production. Interns work 16-24 hours per week and gain exposure to the editorial processes behind CNN news and documentary units.
What you'll do#
Interns support editorial staff through various daily tasks. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting daily news research and pre-interviews for show segments
- Performing fact-checking and tape logging
- Assisting with the gathering of media and archival footage
- Contacting prospective guests and handling booking logistics
- Attending editorial meetings and preparing interview clips
- Managing administrative duties as needed
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Preferred majors include Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Political Science, English, History, Psychology, or Business Administration
- Strong knowledge of current events and an interest in broadcast news or documentary storytelling
- Excellent research and writing skills
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite, specifically Premiere and Photoshop

- Compensation: $19 per hour for undergraduate interns; $25 per hour for graduate-level interns
