About the role#
The Safety and Quality Intern position is based within the Safety and Quality Department of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport. This role supports safety and quality programs across technical and operations environments, including rocket launch and unmanned aircraft systems. You will gain hands-on experience in institutional and programmatic safety while supporting operations, engineering, and logistics functions.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily operations and learn safety training implementation.
- Review program documents and regulations to ensure adherence to OSHA and FAA standards.
- Monitor environmental standards, including water permits and hazardous waste efforts.
- Support quality control tasks and AS9100 requirements.
- Conduct system safety reviews for high pressure, medium pressure, and hazardous systems.
- Perform facility safety maintenance, including testing fire extinguishers, first aid kits, spill kits, and eyewash stations.
- Assess hazards in real-time during field work and hazardous operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program at an accredited institution, at least on a half-time basis.
- Enrollment in a Safety and Quality related major.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and regulatory requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information to management and public groups.
- A valid driver's license for agency business.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NASA credential.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
- Note: This role involves outdoor work in a hazardous industrial environment and may require hours outside of a normal shift.
