About the role#
This position is open to students currently enrolled in the VCU DPT program. You will work under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, or Speech-Language Pathologists to assist with patient care and department operations. This is a part-time, on-site role with a rolling schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct and indirect patient care and education.
- Monitor patient responses to activities and report findings to the supervising therapist.
- Maintain the environment of care and perform general department upkeep.
- Clean equipment, stock linens, and manage supply orders.
- Monitor equipment functions and temperatures.
- Handle patient scheduling and registration.
- Coordinate volunteers and provide direction to PRN support staff.
- Assist with onboarding new team members and track administrative tasks for billing and charging.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work with all patient types.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
- CNA certification is preferred.
- Experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred.
- Prior experience as a personal trainer or in exercise coaching is a plus.
- Familiarity with personal computers and software applications like spreadsheets and word processing.
Location & details#
- Location: Richmond, Virginia.
- This role involves physical activity, including lifting 20 to 100 pounds, frequent walking, bending, and reaching.
- You may be designated as an essential employee, requiring attendance during inclement weather.
